As the title implies, this is a pictorial how-to step by step process to disassemble the Quad pack for either cleaning of the metal plate/cages or swapping out a bad solenoid.
This is part 1 of 2 part tutorial.
Tools needed:
Step 1:
Remove the harness using a flat blade screwdriver to pry up the plastic tab on the connectors:
Step 2:
Locate the four corner tabs on the top plate.
You'll start with either end first.
There's also center tabs between the ones that are bent over the plate.
Step 4:
Secure the quad pack by leaning it on something so the other end you are working on won't move.
Put the tip of a small screwdriver up against the tab on the only open side available.
Gently tap the screwdriver with a small hammer ( 12 oz. ).
Tap and pry it upward to get enough space to get the needle nose plyers in.
Carefully bend all four tabs straight upward, with small needle nose pliers.
Step 5:
Tap on all 4 end tabs and the 2 center tabs in an alternating fashion.
When they are flush with the top plate, you should be able to wiggle them out.
Be careful, pulling straight done because the bracket still needs to clear the bottom relay tube.
Step 6:
Wiggle the body of the solenoid to loosen it.
Move the solenoid out towards the opening.
Step 7:
Pull it back a little.
