85 Shelby 2.2 turbo,4 speed.stalling HELP!

Any ideas would be helpful,it goes about a mile then dies like it's out of gas,turn off ignition and it runs a mile or so then stops again. i have repaired all components that the on board code system points to. O2 sensor vacume to map sensor,i have replaced fuel pump and sock in tank,pick-up coil in distributor.I took the car to a reputable Master Care shop and after a month he says the turbo is shot.I can hear the turbo whinning,so i find that hard to believe,i'm under the impression that he just don't want to spend the time to go over the system because of his hourly rate.
Can you guys just throw any ideas at me. I don't want to just give up on this little beauty. :bang head
