Can you give us any codes that are in the vehicle? Turn Key on Key Off 3 times and watch the check engine light blink, it will have a slight hesitation between numbers and 12 should be the first one which is disconnect of battery (disregard this one and the last one should be 55 which is end of test). Right off the top I would check the electrical connector coming from under the distributor cap (pick up coil) make sure its a good connection. Also I see its an 86 daytona 2.2L (can you give us more car information like the 8th digit of Vin or the engine specs ( 2-Bbl or TBI, Turbo etc.)
