Hey guys,
Trying to figure out the best way to get an intercooler back into my GLHS. I switched out the a525 for an a413 automatic and paddle shifters. The problem is, the automatic is quite a bit larger than the 5 speed, which pretty well blocks the bottom IO on the stock intercooler. I've seen a few folks using an NPR intercooler, which would move the IOs to the top, however I am not sure if I would still have trouble bumping into the a413. Using the NPR intercooler would also take out the A/C. Not a huge loss for a fun car, but a loss nonetheless. I am trying to keep away from cutting up the car, but nothing is off the table at this point. Am I missing an easy solution here? Thanks.

If the stock lower hose won't fit, why don't you fabricate a new lower hose with a couple/few mandrel bent pipes and two hump hoses. That would be far less work than grafting in a whole new heat exchanger. If you don't have welder, cut cut the tubes up and have someone weld it up. The lower intercooler gets pretty small ID besides. That also opens the door to put a BOV anywhere it will fit.

When I swapped in an auto, I went to a muffler shop and had the guy bend a pipe
for me
Stopped at NAPA on the way home, they let me look through the radiator hoses and I found one that was the right diameter and had 1 90 and a 45 degree bend
I think I still have the P/N for the hose
