Hey there i went and looked at a daytona that has c/s badges on the side but on the back it said shelby, can the car be a shelby and a c/s or has somone been slapping random parts on the car ?
It has the crank windows and no ground effects and its an automatic trans, i didnt get to look under the hood as the owner was not home, but it is pretty crusty underneath and the interior is rough to say the least, but if i can pick it up cheap enough i may try to salvage some parts off of it, another atrage thing i noticed about it was the solid rear disc brakes wher i would have thought they would have the vented rotors like the tona shelby.

Thats odd. All C/S had the base line trim, no ground effects. So that sounds right. But the shelby badge must have been of someone's own addition. The C/S daytona also all had the same brakes as the shelbys. btw my C/S is up for car of the month.
Vented rear discs on a base model is most likely a c/s. The shelby on the back is odd, must be an addition, maybe even by the dealer years ago, aroubd here dealers stick all kinds off stupid stuff on new cars to make them appear more spiecal than they may be.
How did it say shelby? With vinyl text or plastic emblem?

Either way it is a low production car if a real c/s, I could tell you how many tommorow if you wanted to know, my production listings are at work.

Excuse the spelling... I,m not very good with the wifes ipad!
I think it was a plastic emblem and it had solid disc brakes in back, and the front had the dual pivot arms on it, i couldnt see the front brakes too well with the steelies and hub caps on it, also struck me as odd that the car had such a low stance but the springs did not seem to be tampered with
If it was auto and looked to be basic, with no power anything then it is most likely a C/S; but not the coveted AGS build code, of which there wereonly (approx) 269 produced. The AGB(IIRC) build code in 89 was a T1/auto car. All C/S in 89 were a turbo engine in a stripped down base model, no power anything, no ground effects, improved suspension and tires. The AGB was the T1 engine, the AGS was a T2, A-555, with Shelby daytona suspension, sway bar, brakes, etc. Still even though it isn't an AGS there werent many made, pick it up and save it if you can :)
From Allpar.com

The C/S package was back for this year (1988) and would be offered until 1991. Even better, it was only available on base models, making it rare. There were two versions:

C/S AGB
2.2 Turbo 1
5 speed manual (auto was an option)
15" "Snowflake" wheels with 205/60 tires
Performance Handling Suspension (identical to that used on the Daytona ES Turbo)
Ultra High Performance brakes (from the Daytona Shelby)
High Performance exhaust system
Boost gauge
Exterior toys included a rear spoiler, turbo bulge hood, and CS badges behind the front tires.

C/S AGS
Everything in the AGB package plus....
2.2 Turbo II (Until 1991 when it was replaced by the T1)
225/50VR-15 Goodyear Gatorback tires
'Intercooled Turbo' hood decal
Maximum Performance Suspension (same as Shelby model)
Performance seats
No auto tranny allowed!

It was a little confusing because the C/S Daytona was supposed to be a "competition series" model, not actually anything to do with Shelby but borrowing the parts from the Daytona Shelby. And of course Shelby's initials were CS plus the actual Shelby cars had "CS" badges of their own and even the non-Shelby-made Daytona Shelby ended up with CS badges on the wheels. That's a lot of C's and S's flying around.

Sorry didnt get any pics, it did have a factory boost gauge and the car is white, from memory i thought i remember it having gray cloth seats but the doorpads i seem to remember some light blue in there, i'll try to save it from the scrappers if i can, the body is pretty rough with what looks like some very shoddy looking bodywork and some severe floorboard rust in the ebrake area but it doesnt seem to have gotten too bad on the frame rails or tunnel from the quick look i had.
Thanks for the info guys very interesting stuff.
Well i didnt get it, its probobly already crushed along with the spare motor the scrappers probobly doubled their money and another parts car is lost, i did not really want the car so much as i wanted to save the parts and keep them in the hands of somone who can use them to keep another old dodge alive, it seems our cars are just becoming rarer by the day
