91Sundance vs Mercedes

So i'm rollin on the street with my race radar on and lucky for me I see this guy behind me gettin frisky passin some people in his black mercedes. I'm not a real mercedes freak so I had no idea what kind it was. It looked like a newer one and it was pretty long. Plus there were no badges on the back. But what I can tell you is this. The guy was a 30 something, balding white dude listenin to some rap music. His license plate was hillarious. It said "RUFF LYF". Looks like life is so great when you're drivin a mercedes. But what he didn't know was that life is really great when you know how to make a Sundance fast. Anyways, I figured he would jump. So I am at a stop light with him and we go at the green. Nice and slow because I'm sure he thought my car was a normal (not fast) p.o.s. (I will say my car is quite crappy looking but being that it runs mid 14's I know what I can race.) Then I start givin some throttle which in turn resonates the exhaust at a level that attracts listeners. Instantly he takes the bait and starts easin his throttle. He must have thought that's all he would need to put me in my place. But little did he know that he would have to go full throttle against the Blue Rocket. We were neck and neck and I believe I started to inch forward a little. What I observe from this is that he probably had to have a 14 second mercedes. That's just my guess. I let off at maybe 70mph because I was alredy pushin the speeding on a 40mph road. Plus we were going over a hill which usually has a State Trooper at the top. Call me gutless for not going the distance but I believe the mercedes got the point. Plus I'll have to say I was laughing out loud. He never let off and continued speeding his frustrations out. Man I love my Sundance. :)

Amen!

Mercedes may seem nice, but they're big, heavy, and mostly ugly. Plus I have a thing against them on a business level, but that's not a discussion for today. Those cars can be fairly fast though. It's always hillarious to see the looks on their faces when you go flying by their really expensive German-engineered automobile in a seemingly innocent 80's American econo-car. Nice run.
I forget where I read about it but one of their newer cars (not the Mclaren) has 650 hp and like 550+ Tq and the craper weighs 6000 lbs :bang head what are they thinking! 300 hp sprots cars were dominating it....

Not gutless, smart! You already proved your point, what's the point in risking getting a traffic ticket? I'd do the same thing. I'm sure his yearly insurance cost more than what your car is worth (no offense) and this is just one of the many things he realized that added to his frustration! LOL

Back in the day I raced a guy with a "race ready" Mercedes 2.3 (I think) something. Guy was bragging at the car wash how fast it was, all his "mods" and that he raced it, yada-yada. All I had in my '91 Shadow ES T1 was a MP computer. I asked him to run me on the freeway. About 15 minutes later, he wouldn't even look at me on the road! LOL Talk about sore loser.
AMG S60, 6 liter twin turbo V12 in a 4400lbs car, runs a low 11 in the 1/4, 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, and pulls .95g on the track. Plus it looks VERY subtle, not much to set it apart from an ordinary S-class, other than the steamroller tires in back.
That's all well and good but the price tag is probably six figures. I could make my R/T Spirit do all that stuff with a fraction of the cash, not to mention less than half the displacement, cylinders, single turbo, etc.
