I MAY Need an Automatic Idle solenoid.
Ive searched several Parts stores-no listings.....
Or can I remove and "fix" mine? maybe clean it?
The idle is high/erratic
Before you go replacing the AIS be aware that a central vacuum leak will cause a high erratic idle without any other driveability concerns so be sure you check all vacuum lines thoroughly. If it is a plastic line it may just be cracked and difficult to locate.Be aware that the lines run thru out the engine compartment and are subject to breaking at any spot, especially behind the valve cover.
Read the "sticky" help with poor idle" in the "help" section for the procedure on cleaning the AIS and throttle plate and setting base idle and resetting AIS.
When you develope a central vacuum leak you are allowing extra air to enter the engine and the MAP sees the drop in vacuum and the controller adds more fuel, more fuel + more air = an increase in idle speed.
