Does anyone know what the Camshaft Journal clearance specs should be? I have a noisy camshaft and I was wondering what the proper journal clearance spec should be.

I have the actual journal spec from the maintenance manual, but it doesn't spec clearance.
From the 1987 Service Manual, 34.939 to 34.960

Best regards

Are you referring to your VNT?
84 - 87 used a Slider Cam and they were noisy even with hydraulic lifters.
There is no valve clearance on 88 and up, hydraulic lifters and roller rockers/cam.
If you have a valvetrain noise you probably have a lifter/rocker issue.

Naj,
I put a roller cam head on each of my 3 cars. The 1987 Lancer that is noisy is a replacement head. Just in case it was a pad lifter or roller I've changed both the lifters and the rollers. Didn't seem to make a difference.

My guess would be you have a lifter not pumping up properly either due to the lifter being faulty or an oiling issue.
