The MAP sensor in my 88 Shelby Z is the original one (2 bar). I am not getting any error codes or having any driveability issues, but the question is does the performance of a MAP sensor degrade with time or are they simply good or bad? Is there a way to clean them? Just looking to improve the boost response on this old beast.

Don't fix it if it isn't broke.

Boost response has nothing to do with the Map, Map output responds to boost.

Boost response is totally dependent on airflow/exhaust flow.engine speed and turbo size.

The 89 T-2 takes 4.6 seconds to reach 12 lbs of boost from a standing start.
Chrysler cut that time in half(2.3 seconds)with the 90 VNT but now you are comparing apples and oranges.
