My 1985 Shelby Charger has been having some charging problems lately... Yesterday the battery was dead and it wouldn't start. Charged the battery and tested it and it was good. I have left nothing on and the voltage was good in the car when I started it last. In the past (usually when it is cold) when I drive it with the lights on they kind of dim and get brighter with lower than normal voltage but usually get bright and stay like that. The voltmeter in the car usually seems to be around 14 when it is running and not under any kind of load. This is the 2nd or third time the battery has just randomly done that. Any ideas? I do plan on replacing the battery cables soon. I just replaced the battery terminals. Thanks!

First verify charging voltage at the battery.
Check for any charging system fault codes.
There may not be any present since your battery was dead.

well, i am replacing the alternator. any tips on replacing it? does the a/c compressor have to come out? it looks like it would be in the way. any tips would be appreciated!
