How difficult to convert a 90 Daytona auto car to stick? I've got an A555, shifter and cables I could use as well as 87 pedals (not sure if they bolt up or not). I'm also wondering if I should go to an A523 instead of the A555 for smoother shifting (I find the A555 not the smoothest and I miss 3rd at times when I'm racing). I've used A520's and A555's, but never anything newer (A523 or A568). Any recommendations?

90 came with an A568 so why not use that so everything from a 90 will bolt right up.

90's came with 523's as well depending on the options. My 1st 90 523 came from a TBI daytona.

I went out and grabbed a 523 after driving a friends GLH that had a 523. Took the good 555 out of my 87 ShelbyZ, put the 523 in and never looked back. The shifting is so much nicer, smoother and quicker. Plus I love the 3.50 geared FDR ratio on the freeway. I'll never go back to the clunky 520/555 setup again.

90 came with an A568 so why not use that so everything from a 90 will bolt right up.

523 though is the same case and shifter, That 90 can use all bolt in parts that way. The newer dash will work with a newer shifter better than the old style. The 523 also has the HD 3rd gear retainer plate, the 555 can lose 3rd from flex. The 523 is also an OBX drop in trans, the 555 needs hybrid 520 gears to use the OBX. The shifters are also cheap to get fast ratio using Neon parts.

Sounds like the A523 is the way to go. I will need another centre console for the manual shifter, shifter, cables and tranny, but it will be worth it. Question regarding pedals and clutch cable. Can I use the 87 daytona pedal setup and clutch cable for the A523?
