cooling fan

fan isn't coming on. unplugged temp sensor at the themostat. fan then came on. can anyone tell me whats going on. just pulled the 3.0 out of a 91 daytona and replaced it in my 90 model. even changed wiring harness inside and out. the fan was working in the wrecked 91.

for some odd reason the fan began to work again. but the temp gauge is jumping up and down. this is puzzling to me. never had one act this way.
when you pulled the coolant temp sensor the computer no longer knows the engine temp. So by default it turns on the fan to make sure it does not overheat. I'm guessing you pulled it because the fan was not coming on. Was the engine hot enough for it to come on? You might have an intermittant relay. Try swapping it with another one.
