I have the cylinder head off the car to install another turbo and cannot remember where this copper piece goes to? 1987 GLHS 2.2

That's a very important part!!

It seals the heater hose that attaches to the big nut on the bottom of the water box.

Thaw water box contains the thermostat etc.

what he said..
simply remove the metal pipe portion of the heater hose from the big fitting below the t-stat and insert it in the end of the pipe.. pointy -ish end down ..

it's the compression seal that belongs between the two fittings..

make sure it's clean and free of crud

if ..it leaks..
you ca resurface with a coating of solder both inside and out..rubbed smooth again with some 4-O steel wool

no wonder mine leaks. After reading this thread
I finally have an answer. I forgot to put in the bushing have no idea where it went and now it’s probably lost so if anybody has an extra or knows where to order one please let me know
I would have never known if original poster had not asked that question. Thanks!
