I am unable to start my 87 dodge lances es.

I was driving and it just stopped am unable to start it again.

if I put gas down the intake it will start.

I have spark.

when I turn the key on the red power light on the left flashes the following.

1. on solid about 5 seconds
2. on solid about 1 second
3. on solid about 1 second followed by 1 more on for 1 second.
4. flashes 5 times for 1 second each.
5. flashes 5 times for 1 second each.

that is all

I am trying to find the interpertation for the codes.

Fuel pump or fuel filter would be the first thing I would look at. The pump is in the tank. An easy way to check it is to crank the engine over for a couple of seconds, then depress the schrader valve on the fuel rail. If no gas squirts out, then the problem is either the pump or filter. I think on the 87 there is no automatic shutdown relay, so the pump should have power whenever the ignition is on. The filter is located in front of the rear passenger side tire, bolted to the frame.

You have codes 12 and 55 which don't mean anything. 12 is the battery was disconnected recently, and 55 is the end of the codes. Sounds like you have a fuel delivery problem, I'd check the pump and filter like the others said.
