Ahh.. Good catch.. Maybe that supercharged Turismo from last summer? That was carb'd.. Forged pistons and billet rods in a carb'd car? hahaha.. You'd be lucky to ever exceed the power handling capabilities of lightweight rods.

Lol, yeah I didn't notice the section from the home page, lol. Turbo FTW!
Although angelo Taylor used to race carbed omni, I went heads up with him at the track in his horizon, but the r/t beat his 17 sec carb pass.

I used to have 1 or 2 vids of a modded tbi i had. Ran about 17 flat. Numerous people have run about 17 flat.

I did hear of one tbi in a lightened omni that got into the 14s, it was pretty heavily modded.

But as for needing forged pistons or billet rods... there is absolutely no reason you would need that stuff if you stayed N/a because you wont make enough power to break the stock pistons or rods.. There wont be enough heat in the cylinders to melt pistons or anything, as long as its tuned worth half a shit.

Bwahahaha, power at over 8grand in an 8v 2.2? Not gunna happen. The only way these engines ever see 8grand is if you mis-shift.. Even a 16v 2.0 (much less stroke) Neon motor is hard pressed to get OVER 8grand and still make power.

Do you recall a TIII EVER being Carbureted? Or even seeing a manifold for such a crazy thing? 16v Carb'd motors are really really rare, simply because it's pointless to optimize the intake and then limit yourself the the inadequacies of a carb.

I'm personally building my carbed engine for low end so I can autocross with it and sound good doin it.... and of course for fun around town. But as far as drag racing goes or whatnot... I wouldnt build it for that.

Where do these engines usually make peak power? Running it over 8k seems pretty extensive...

car was sold on here a couple years ago i think. BUt a fine example of what can be done with a Carb'd motor. I am actually picking up a 86 omni carb 5 speed that i am planning on building up.

ill try to find some old videos of my 84 shelby charger. that thing would pull to 8000rpm I acheived by playing with the cam centerline, it had mp big valve head, long race header, mp 460 lift cam, ported intake, pretty much the works.

I miss driving the car, the sucker was soo rich just to handle the high revs, I would get flames under compression ,
