.:: Excelerator V : Import & Sport Compact Car Show ::.

Land vehicle Vehicle Car Coupé Sedan

The trophy is for Best Domestic BTW. What a riot. The car looks like it was painted with a mop. But I did add the drilled / slotted 11" rotors ($185 for 4 rotors and pads from brakeplanet.com) off a 89 Shelby Daytona. Then it has the 17 x 7.5 Konig Feathers and 225 40 17 Nitto 555 tires. Other than that it looks stock. Getting into Silverwood normally is about $40 per adult, when you get into the show you get 2 tickets into the park and enter the car for $30. So I washed up the CSX and loaded the kids and hit it. I added the CSX brouchure, the 89 Motor Trend, and some other rag on the car and put them on the dash opened to be read through the windshield. Then into the park with the hood left up. After I was tired and ready to leave I went over and started packing up the car and the judges cornered me and asked "where I was going". So I told the massive import judges I was "going home" and they started whining about it and asked me to stay. Compact people have always been treated as lesser people, the idea of a Shelby made compact floored them. They have never heard of such a thing. They stared at it wondering how such a car could exist and they had never heard of it lol. So I told them about the VNT / VVT turbo. Then I went on about the fiberglass fiber ride wheels. Fact is only 2 true tuner manufactured compacts have ever been made, the N02 Focus sucks as they only did suspension and body kit.

So I listened as they went through best Dodge and thought I stayed for no reason. They went through all the manufactures that were domestic. Then they came to best domestic. With many V8 guys there at the Compact show, with trash cans of cash thrown at them, they loved my Shelby CSX best. Amazing, I build these things to piss off the import lovers with an American car that doesn't need a V8 to beat them. The American V8 crowd can't stand the car and the Import people absolutely love it, crazy. Had to share...

LoL. Congrats on the win!

You know it's funny, I was talking to my neighbor one day about cars (he has a '66 Malibu he's restoring) and he made the off-hand remark that I was driving "rice". I was floored. I told him it was a 100% American car and he just laughed. He didn't believe the engine wasn't imported and he definately didn't think it could compete with a "real" American V8. That same week I had some random guy pull up beside me and roll down the window to talk about the car. He wanted to know if it was a turbo and I told him it was. Then he told me he was into imports, about his turbo Integra and everything he had done to it. And he actually gave me props for my Daytona. He said he knew those cars could be really fast and it was rare to see the Shelby models anymore. I'm not a huge fan of imports or anything, but I think I'd almost rather be lumped in with that group as long as they're willing to talk cars and have a good time of it. If the V8 guys want to be closed-minded and such, well, they can go right on thinking my car isn't American and keep their gas-guzzlers to themselves I guess.

how many TD guys are going to the show this year? me and another TD guy are prolly going. it'll be a drive. I'm trailering the turismo. supercharger sucks through gas. full tank in about 4 days. depending how hard i am on the throttle of course. =D
hope to see some of you there. The turismo didnt get paint yet. But it does have a sweet engine that represents Direct><Connection(Mopar) very well.

I am bringing out my 89 CSX, I believe my cousin johnny is bringing out his 88 CSX T and my brother is bringing out the 87 CSX lol.

So 3 years of CSX for sure so far. Maybe a TC as well if I can talk Tom into it. So maybe 4, Tom hasn't shown the masi yet but likes car shows.

This is no truer than around my neck of the woods. The only people that respect the potential of my TD are other TD owners, previous and present, and ricers.

I guess other 4 banger owners just kinda look out for each other. There's a difference between "Import tuner" and "ricer" IMHO. Ricers are cosmetic drivers, tuners are performance based. Rusty car runnin 12's? Or flashy car runnin 18's?

My circle of friends are strictly GM and Ford owners, and one of my "accquaintances" said he raced his v6 Grand Prix (not gt, gtp, or gxp either) and said he smoked the hell out of a stock SRT-4 with "an aftermarket blow-off valve" WTF BOV's don't really add that much horsepower, the guy driving wasn't a good one.

But, apparently daytonas and any other dodge FWD turbo car is slower than a Geo Metro....soooo much to learn.

And Rob, congrats on the win:thumb:
Awesome man, just awesome
