well when I first bought my car the guy told me it needed a new fuel sending unit...What does this involve and whats the difficulty level

I mean I know I can do it...it's just I don't know if I have the right stuff...and I don't want to be pulling things im not supposed to

No access panel and no need to drop the tank. Don't even need to jack up the car, just craw under car with hose cutter, screw driver and hammer.

there is a ring that you tap off counterclockwise and clockwise to tighten. There also is a o-ring get a new one or if you can reuse go ahead and just lube it it and slip in in.

I'm in the mood to point out you should use a brass punch instead of a screwdriver to unlock the ring. sparks and fumes don't mix..... or do they?
