Gary mod DSM BOV. Is the drilled hole/vacuum port needed?

I just did the mod and blocked off the reference port and didn't bother to drill a new reference port since I know I am to lazy to use it. Do you need that for some reason? It doesn't seem like doing it my way really did a whole lot. It still acts exactly the same at low boost and I think it is still leaking at 18ish psi just not as much. I am using a cutout raiser and before the mod I couldn't hit my raised cutout and now I can but it does so slowly. Just need to know so I know where to look intercooler hose leak or bov leak. Pretty sure I hear something leaking.

That other reference port is to make the BOV act fast, IE it reacts quicker. The way you have it now, it will hold alot of boost, mine held to 29 psi but it reacts slower so in some cases, IE lower boost, it will cause the turbo to chatter/stutter. If yours doesn't, its fine.
Well I was thinking it might need that vent for some reason but I guess not. Mine really seems to act exactly the same at lower boost as before though. I've rode in somebodies car that also did it and his had plenty of turbo surge at lower boost. Guess I'll will look into the intercooler hoses. Might try hooking the bov up to a different vacuum port too.

The upper hose, MUST be connected to manifold vacuum!

So does mine, I actually think it may be working FASTER without the smaller hose hooked up, it is surely louder for sure. Mine does not leak at all. I put a balloon over it at the dyno, no air in it till I let off, then boom, what a riot that was, but a hell of a good way to see if you are leaking boost. :p
