What's up Fellas!

So ive decided to jump back into TDs. I want to make some quality youtube content and really show the world what we are all about.

Now introducing... My new 1985 Omni GLHT! Gold dust with a red interior swap. Mostly stock. 109k miles. Little rust. Shitty paint. And a lot of charm. Hasnt run in 4+ years, but thatll be solved soon.

I always liked that gold color
Here is the data sheet back from the fuel injector clinic. They really do amazing work. I dont know what they had to do to get the baseline numbers because i got zero flow from two of them on the test bench. View attachment 270007
Thank you for this info.
I'd like to keep the original injectors on my GLHS and this would be the way to go.
Okay. So the good stuff arrived!

Feast your eyes!

Oooh(y) Mitoyo Crescent micrometers! (y)
I love watching all these rebuilds.
It gets me motivated to get back to working on my car.
Mark,
You can buy Mopar brand anaerobic sealant right from Chrysler. One 1.7 oz tube should last you a very long time. Mopar brand is called Gasket Maker.
I'm glad you mentioned Chrysler "Gasket Maker".
I'm removing the plate on my A525 and I want to use the right stuff.
I Love watching this build.
It's motivational and inspiring.
Fellas! Touching base with you. Im sorry for the delays in the project updates. Ive become distracted per usual for me. I swear i have project ADD...

Im at the point where the head is ready to bolt on and i still need to drill the exhaust manifold for the hx30 t3 bolt pattern. I have been summoning courage to get my ass back in the garage and get the motor in place. Perhaps that would be a good "by February" challenge...

Thank you guys for your support, you guys inspire me!

~Mark
I always enjoy this build.
Hey Mark,
Engine build looks great! Glad you taking the time to really check clearances. Not many people are as thorough as you. 57cc sounds about right for the chambers.
It looks like you ended up using ARP headbolts (not studs). What did you do about their longer than stock length? Use two washers, or tap the headbolt holes down a bit further? What did you end up using for exhaust multi-groove keepers with the 7° Ti retainers? What brand intake keepers? Stamped not machined I presume? Remember where you ended up for installed height on springs? What cam are you going with? Sorry for all the questions. Inquiring minds (Randy, 0325, and myself and all the lurkers) need to know (haha).
This is male version of woman's daytime soaps. You leave us hangin from post to post instead of episode to episode (lol).
BTW turbo inlet looks nice!
My engine pulling/rebuilding visions of grandeur live vicariously through the Gold Dust Build!

Good mornings guys.

Most of my bolt holes were TIGHT and could not be hand threaded. This was a 10mm block that i drilled and tapped, and clearly i did tap enough depth nor general cleanup. Once i ran the tap through a few more times through each holes, life was good.
I was going to say: maybe you used a tap set from Harbor Freight?
😵:poop:😁
Lol, you are trying to make me faint.

I cringe whenever the current youtuber suggests buying tools at Harbor Freight... But the worst part is that there is nearly no competition for them, especially american made tooling.

Sad face.

I was searching for a transmission jack for the Hellcat, and the choices are $160 no names or a $650 Westward. Where did Craftsman go?

~Mark
I was at a jobsite and the boss went to Harbor Freight to get us a drill bit set.
I tried the bits and they were causing a lot of vibration and didn't cut through metal.
I rolled them across a flat table top.
Every single one wobbled.
Lowe's sells the hand tools now....:(
BTW: Armstrong tools and several other Made In USA brands were the ones making the tools for Craftsman.
I don't know who the suppliers are now.

I love watching this build.
I decided to tackle the alternator belt tensioner. I'm ready to ditch the factory clunky setup for something a bit more solid.

The parts!

Weld alternator bolt to fork as well as Cut spacer for the M10 bolt to keep the forks from bending/collapsing from torquing fasteners.

Mark:
I see you fashioned a nicer looking version of a turnbuckle for the alternator adjustment.
