It's been done. What transmission is in the PT and the Shadow? You are probably going to have to build a wiring harness as the computers for the engine and possibly transmission will be different and the PT system may need the body computer for everything to work.

I have a 88 Dodge Shadow not running and a 2005 PT Cruiser ugly but runs fine Can the entire engine and trans be swapped

I would plan to use as much of the PT wiring harness as possible because the fuel injection and trans modules would still work together
