I bought an 88 shelby z today, once I got it home I started looking it over and noticed some sticky goo behind the center console. So I proceeded to taking the dash apart, slid the radio out and the back is coated in goo, removed the a/c controlls same thing. Looking up in the dash behind where the pocket is and i see a rag, so I try pulling it out but its stuck too wires and a ziploc bag. I remove the top of the dash and pull this mess out of the center speaker hole. I have no idea what this component is. Any ideas?

that's the potting material bubbling out of your headlamp door motor controller

I believe the smoke is toxic if you burn it
