I have a 1990 daytona shelby 2.5t auto. Car as sat for some time and I took it for.a ride yesterday and the problems started.

1. Started it and it idled ruff and everytime I hit the gas the rpms would go up then the car would stall. Started it a couple hours later and it was fine.

2. Car takes off ok but could be better. Hits 65-70 and falls on its face.

I know it needs a tune up but I would think this car shouldn't do any of this even needing a tune up.

could you install a fuel pressure gauge maybe the fuel pump is bad
i would start off buy putting some fuel cleaner in the system and check and clean the IAC (idle air controller) with some carb cleaner while the throttle body is off

are there any codes
