i bought an 85 shelby charger a while back and i'm finaly getting the last bits together for it...

a buddy sent me the L-body alt tensioner (old style alt)... there is another bracket that i have that i think i understand goes on but it seems to be missing another peice that actualy bolts to the alternator...

am i right? anyone have pics of this peice? (if i'm right this peice should hook to the alternator... or possibly it's just a matter off i'm completly

the biggest help i could get is just some pics of exactly what it's all supposed to look like when its bolted together

the tensioner bolts to the alt... two screws with rubber and really long bolt, then there is a bracket that stays put and when the tensioner is tight, you tighten a bolt though the bracket to the tensioner.

wow, that sounds confusing...

i gotta run out, but if no-one posts a pic while i'm gone, i will when i get back.

thanks man... i'm still a bit foggy about how it works... looking at the FSM doesn't realy help much ... i think i may be missing something still...

I want to tell you this, too...

When the alt is in the car, it may look like a PITA to adjust. (Especially with A/C)
But you never even have to reach into the engine bay with a tool - there are access holes in core support for adjustments. One high, one low. I can post those for you also.

This is how it bolts to the alternator, but the rubber on this one is messed up.

thanks a lot guys... between you and the other mopar forum i know exactly what my prob is :-/...

i've got a bosch alternator... with the center tensioner and 1 part of the left tensioner (the one the bolt actualy pushes on)...

i'm going to call some junkyards and see what they want for a ND alternator... last one i talked to wanted $45 akk... maybe i'll just build something... have some old bed rails i can use lol...

ahhh... I swear you said you had the old style alt....

ya'know, the Chrysler one...

but if you had the Bosch... I dunno...

what FSM do you have??

my FSM clearly shows the difference between the American one, the German one, and the Japanese one.

the one in your pics are what i have... i was under the assumption that they where made by bosch... anyway... your pics where EXACTLY what i needed... just a matter that i only have 1 of the 3 parts lol... bud sent me a tensioner bracket but it's for a ND...
