So back in high school I had an 86 Laser Turbo, and an 89 Daytona ES. Im looking for a really nice 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo. CS preferred but will take a Turbo Z no problem. Transmission type is irrelevant. Color preference is black, red, silver or white... but ANY factory color will be considered. As the title states, I am willing to pay top dollar for one as I am approaching 40 and not getting any younger. I have looked high and low and found only 1 car that meets what I am looking for way up in Michigan, so the search continues.

I remember when you could find these cars easily, now it seems thats no longer the case and thats a real shame. Ive always thought these cars were way under appreciated.

Please let me know what you guys have or know about. Again the car has to be very nice and no rust that compromises the body or frame. Interior has to be very nice. Paint has to be good. Mechanicals have to be in good working order. Electronics have to all work (unless its something small and easily repairable).

Ideal car would be red, with gray leather and an automatic. Fully loaded with the digital dash. Has to be turbo and a 1984-1986 body style. T-tops not a requirement nor is it something I am wanting but its most certainly not a deal breaker.

May consider a nice 87-89 if it is superb, but thats a big maybe. Thank you for looking and if you run across this post months later, please check in if you have anything like what Ive mentioned. Chances are I may still be looking as I am being fairly particular.

I am putting my baby up for sale. The car sits too much, and it deserves to be driven more. I am the third owner. The man I bought it from purchased it with 59,077 miles in 2004. He sold it to me with 59,900 miles. It now has just under 60,300 miles. The car was originally sold at Earnhardt Dodge in Scottsdale Arizona. It lived its whole life there. As you know, the majority of these cars were built at the Chrysler Plant in St. Louis Mo. That is where it currently sits. It is all original and unmolested except for brand new tires, plugs, and ALL fluids changed in 2018. It also passed inspection about a month ago. In 2004 when he purchased it, a new timing belt, fuel injectors, battery, and various parts that had “lot rot” were replaced. When I purchased it, the Arizona sun had weathered the paint slightly. I had it professionally cut and buffed. The paint is bright and looks good. There are a few small chips around the car, and the front plastic bumper and the plastic side spoilers are faded. I did not repaint them, as it adds to the charm, and the originality of the car. The plastic is always slightly faded on original 80s cars. I am very meticulous, so I put the car on jack stands. The original undercoating is in tact, and there is no rust. It looks superb. Arizona weather is the best for cars, because there is no water or salt to cause rust. It does dry rot hoses and weatherstripping, but all of this was replaced with OEM parts from Arizona Parts. They specialize in OEM Mopar Parts. The tires I went with are the original 195/70/14 size, and they are Cooper CS-3. Ride excellent. I also had the A/C converted to R-134, and recharged. It blows ice cold. The interior is mint. It has had a dash pad and seat covers on it all life. The car is amazing. It isn’t perfect, but most of these Daytonas are in junkyards. I get compliments at car shows all the time. It brings people back to their high school days. I have the original owners manual, sales brochure, and window sticker. I always run 93 octane gas and Mobile One synthetic oil in it. Keep in mind it’s a 32-year-old car and it may need some things in the future but it runs and drives perfect as it sits you can fly in from anywhere and drive this car back home. All of the dash lights and gauges work. The turbo spools up nicely, and there are absolutely NO leaks or smoke from the car. I hate to see the car go, but I feel that cars need to be driven, and in this stage of my life, I do not need a collector car. You will be one of the few in the world that have a running and driving Daytona. Feel free to make me an offer. I am STILL looking folks! Ran across one that had rust issues and patched floor. Not what I wanted... AGAIN, I AM WILLING TO PAY WELL for one. 1986 preferred, 84 or 85 will work. Red. Black/gray interior... whatever. Trans does not matter. Color is not a deal breaker. Its been over a year. Still nothing found. Am I looking in the wrong place? thanks

No right place just, wrong decade or two.:wink2: Check occasionally on BAT.com (bring-a-trailer) auction. They have lots of freakishly odd and desirable cars and cars with low mileage. Expect to pay a premium though at that site.

There is a beautiful Red XT posted on the SDAC - Shelby Dodge Automobile Club facebook page, not sure of the location, but for 2K you can't go wrong says no rust or ever been painted. I would run and check that one out. seems very clean. I checked and location is Canada, if I had the room I would certainly grab this car.

This is a one owner car I ordered back in 85 when I lived in Ohio (not driven in the Winters) and then moved to AZ (in 1988) around 33 years ago where it's been garaged ever since.

Everything is original except the stereo and I have the original AM/FM cassette deck. I have all the literature, build sheet, the brochure we picked the options from and even the cardboard dealership display with the same model on it. Living out West and all our family back East, the majority of miles are highway miles. It has some hangar rash from being stored but still a rust free beautiful example of this model. I'm in the process of getting it road ready by going through everything and stretching it's legs a bit prior to selling. (I do have the drivers side mirror in case anyone wonders.)

I live in northern AZ. If you're seriously interested, let me know. I can tell you everything about this car because it's our one and only brand new car.
