I've got an 87 2.2 with a T2 set at 14 lbs of boost and my low end power sucks. anything lower than 2500-3000 is embarassing performance wise. It just doesnt have any guts off the line compared to my bro's 2.5 TI. I know the 2.5's naturally have more torque but is there anything I can do to a 2.2 to get the pig to hustle off the line?

I know the compression ratio is lower on the 2.2 over the 2.5....but you could try making the turbo breath better. I use to have a 2.2 T2 set-up in my car......it was really respectable. I milled my head .015", put a slider cam in it, 2.5" downpipe, gutted cat, 2.5" exhaust with a Dynomax straight through muffler, a stage 2 computer, and 16psi. It was a very exciting car to drive lol.....best time was 14.5 at 93mph.....2.5sec short time. That was on some junk tires. It had good low end

Its a small displacement engine, if you arent making boost then you arent making power/torque thats all there is to it. The best way to make power is to figure out how to get it into boost faster, usually by slipping the clutch and using a lower gear.
