Hello,

Finally ripping my 89 Lebaron GTC 2.5L Turbo down to the block. Destroyed every turbo line trying to take them off so I will have to get some new ones. My question is what are the pros and cons between the Mitsubishi and the Garrett turbos? A Mitsubishi is currently on my engine but I do have a Garrett sitting in the corner. If I decide the Garrett what all is required to get this to work correctly? For example, I do know this requires different turbo lines. I am opting to do the beehive springs, larger valves, and larger lifters off of turbododgeparts.com. What other things are people doing to the engine and trans for better performance?

Thanks!

only real difference is the turbo lines. when you need to buy some any ways. its a stronger more powerful turbo with easier to find parts.
I installed beehives on my car and love it. along with the PT lifters. makes it very quiet and rev happy.
I would suggest them to any one. larger valves are more involved and wont make a huge difference on the T1 intake though.
If you had a two piece and larger TB then i would suggest working on the head ports and valves.

be careful saying turbododgeparts.com here. you might make people upset again.

i have meet steve from there and been to his house. nice smart guy with a passion for these cars.
I believe he is currently BANNED from this site. because he offers things for sale now and then.
like used waste gates. and used turbos that have been rebuilt. That is one of the reasons i normally avoid posting or replying on here now..

Mitsubishi T1 turbo will spool quicker, but have less volume. Not efficient at all past 14psi. Great for a street car and pretty nice on the highway with the short lag, pass cars no problem without downshifting in a 2.5

Garrett T1 has some lag (not that bad though) and more volume than the Mitsu. So in theory it makes more power than the Mitsu due to the volume of air is can push. Good for efficiency near 18psi.

Lines are different unfortunately

Turbododgeparts / Steve was given a suspension from the site for continued business advertising without a vendor subscription, which is against forum policy. The parts sales wasn't the problem, nor is his business.
