Hey all.
Dealing with an '89 Lancer Shelby, T2, stock.
I'm planning on getting a new radiator, and I've been toying with reorienting the intercooler so I can get the larger T1 radiator. My idea would be in the nose (there's a lot of room there...). If I did that, should I just go ahead and get a longer IC?

Ideas and recommendations welcome!

Great! I'm glad to know there's an acronym for it! 😏😏🤣🤣
Now, recommendations for the intercooler and radiator?

there are many choices for intercoolers..
including "ebay" items of dubious quality

recommendation - you want to run the biggest one you can fit :)

"back in the day" there weren't (any/many) aftermarket choices,
so finding junkyard parts was popular.. I run a neon srt/4 intercooler on my omni

e.g. - the cummins diesel dodge trucks have a BIG IC ;)

I'd look for an IC approximately the size of the srt4 unit,
which seems to have about 2-3x the size of the stock "TII" IC

Why go to the trouble to do the install work for anything smaller,
and anything much bigger won't yield you much more..

Anyone familiar with the CHR Racing intercoolers on eBay? Looks right, and the price ain't bad.

hmm.. those treadstones look nice, but EXPENSIVE !

cheapest is 300$ .. ?
hmm I'd be looking at $70 obo shipped ->
{but then I'm a big fan of "newer" OE parts which are upgrades for my 80's crap. And I'm poor/cheap.)

OEM quality; flows good enough for a 235 hp srt4...
correct size inlet/outlet for a TD
hack it up. weld on brackets if need be, don't worry about it ..

PS I spent couple hours today reassembling my FMIC setup (srt4) on my omni after removing it all, cleaning everything, painting the hard tubing, fixing a split hose (boost leak)...

tomorrow I'm rebuilding and hopefully re-installing the turbo

Too much cutting to fit those massive end tanks . Flows barely enough for 180hp. Huge gains getting rid of that ic on a stock SRT4 and going to a big tube and fin i/c for those guys. Theirs a reason they're $70. The spirit r/t IC made 225hp but had a worse core than the stock T2 i/c. Just because it makes a certain hp doesn't mean it's good.
