Hello,
I purchased a 2004 Neon SRT-4 after drooling for one for many years. As i am a parent and already had expensive hobbies i had to wait for a more feasible time. That having been said. I saved my money and began to shop for my SRT-4. I shopped all over this country for one that was not beaten to death. many look nice but have been ran into the ground. Many owners were unable to keep up the required upkeep for these demanding cars. That combined with the countless design flaws they already had equaled a terribly disappointing search for my dream car.
So then I find one. Drive three hours to look at it and drive it. looks great, drives great, new tires and such. I get it home and start going over it for the next few days. the more I, dig the worse it gets. Since purchase i have driven it a week but had to replace:
1) inter-cooler pipe (hot and cold0
2) inter-cooler (one on it was too small. not stock)
3) power steering pump and tank
4) radiator
5) radiator hose
6) thermostat
7) thermostat housing (upper and lower)
8) injectors
9) injector harness plugs ($35 [email protected]#&$%G each form mopar)
10) MAP sensor
11) intake manifold (old one was CRACKED)
12) manifold gasket (low heat transfer type)
13) ignition
14) plugs
15) plug wires
16) water temp sensor (included on thermo housing)
17) engine mounts 9old ones were snapped at the weak stock bolts.
18) engine mount bolts
19) RADIATOR SUPPORT (thats right, he even butchered that)
20) brakes
21) rotors
22) TPS
23) radiator cap (old one was bent)
24) air filter (not cold air intake yet)
25 and more..........
OK. SO her is my current issue. BEFORE I took it all apart to replace all this wrong doing. i only had one code from the ECU. That was P0443 (Evap canister Purge valve) blah, blah, blah. I bought that too. Add to list above.
NOW that I have replaced everything I am getting almost every single sensor code. The car runs and idles. but has no balls, maybe 2 lbs of boost, and if i give it any throttle at all it stalls but does not die. If I ease it up slow it runs ok. But if I let off of it as I am shifting to turn from a light, it dies. I love this car. It is my baby. I have had her completely a[art and in my hands. But I am stuck. WTF is causing this. PLEASE HELP ME????
