Need help with my intercooling project. Some question

1796 Views 22 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  CBMDennis
I have an 1988 T1 LeBaron convert. I just bought the t2 radiator / intercooler combo. The problem I am having is locating a lower radiator hose. I tried one from an 1989 LeBaron with no luck. Do I have to use a coupler and make my own???

can you get a j-body TII hose ?

on my mutt omni,
the PO had cut the lower rad hose and inserted a coupler (short piece of muffler pipe) with 2 clamps,
allowing shortening & rotating

Currently thats the way its installed now with a coupler. I know other people has done this install I thought their may be a specific hose I could order replacing the hack job. I've tried hoses from both the 88 and 89 Lebarons with out any luck!
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

what about GTX (isnt that the T2 Lebaron?) check that part number and see if it is the same as the T2 G-body... if it is i bet it would be easy to get...

i would look into that because it is probably the same intercooler/rad that you got anyway!
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

Err, I definitely just cut the TI hose shorter on my LeBaron TII conversion, worked great. The only trick was to cut the end that goes to the radiator at a bit of a 'fluted' angle because of the way it wants to bend. Its a little scary if you don't have a spare, but be careful and clamp it really well and you shouldn't have a problem. After heating and cooling a few times the hose will adopt the new shape and run just fine.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

I wuld think due to similarites in mounting that a Daytona lower radiator hose would work. That or just hack it in half and couple it together. There are radiator shops that could make you one, though I'm not sure how much that would be.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

yea 87-89 T2 lower rad hose from a daytona is the same as the GTC lebaron.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

:rofl2:thanks I'll order it first thing in the morning
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

by the way will that hose fit my J-body 88 lebaron vertable
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

yes
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

GLHNSLHT2 I ordered the lower rad hose from a daytona 89 and it came in way too long. Any suggestions. By the way I have an 88 LeBaron Convertible.

I'm gonna sound like a complete ass and stating the obvious, but did you make sure you ordered a TII radiator hose?

The TI hoses are about 5-6 inches longer
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

Yes I ordered the intercooler version. TII
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

Are you sure you got the right hose though. Last time I needed a T2 hose I went down, told them I needed a 89 Intercooled hose. They bring it out from the back and sure enough, it's a T1 non-intercooled hose. They had to go back into the computer and find the other #. Don't assume parts places know WTF they're doing.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

Thats why I asked because the TI hoes are a lot longer than the TII
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

Take a piece of hose with you to the auto parts thats the size you need at both ends. Draw/measure the length and shape. Have the auto parts match up what your looking for. The hose might not be exactly what your looking for but you can cut it to fit.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

I tried that and autozone did not have a match.
Re: Need help with my intercooling project. Sime question

unless i am confused... check out Napa part number NBH 8388
