I installed mine just the way they were without waterproofing them. I have 2 behind my grille and have had no problems.

Yup, agree with PTCrzr...although sealed pretty well from the factory, these tubes are made for interior use. Seal them with silicone and you won't have to worry about them in the rain.

Also, you may want to consider placing stainless steel tape behind the tubes. This helps to reflect more light instead of being absorbed by the dark metal bumper, body, etc.

The Installer that did mine showed me how he does it applied outdoor silicone ( and Not from Pam Anderson )
at the end and where the wire goes throught where the red arrows are.. So far so good. They are working great.
