New CSX-T Project, Unknown # Missing Plaque

710 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  4 L-bodies
Today I was able to get a good deal on a CSX-T that is in need of some serious restoration. Before I begin, I wanted to see if there was some way of getting the Shelby # from the VIN.

Having bought the carfax and looked at a few posts on this forum, I have one major candidate # that this vehicle might be, but would really like someone with the Shelby # / VIN cross-reference documents to be able to confirm my suspicions.

My VIN last 6 for the vehicle is: 237251.

Thanks in advance!

Start here with the people who can verify the VIN.

Good luck
No need to spend money on a certificate. IMO, a complete waste of money. Well I have some good news and some bad news (if your superstitious). The good news is your car's Shelby invoice is # 05-756 shipped on 5/19/88 to Seattle, WA . The maybe not so good news is your plaque # is/was #666! On a good note, it is an easy one to remember (lol).
Because these cars were put into public's hands (rental duty), the plaques were lifted quite often. I guess a little memento for the person renting the car. They had to get something for their $34.95/day apparently.
Hope this helps,

Sorry for the late reply! That is actually really good news given that I was told it was #666 when I bought it. Someone had put a completely different fake plaque on the dashboard with the number on it and I wanted to confirm that it actually had that number at one point. I can imagine that the stock plaque didn't last long after a few rentals given how many other folks are missing theirs. I was actually able to track down one of the first owners through this forum and I learned a lot about the car and who owned it up to me. This all gives me a bit more motivation as I start the process of getting it road worthy again.

Thank you so much!
