I was driving my 86 shelby charger and when i took off from the light
it went to the floor. so i cut the key off and pulled over
i got out and checked the throttle cable and moved
the throttle back and forth it was fine. so i cranked back up while
my dad watched it and it reved up again so i cut it off real quick.
so we checked it and couldn't find and reason for it to be doing
that. so we cranked it up again and it ran right but i had no boost
and i cant hear my turbo whirling. what could have caused the surge
and is something stopping me from getting boost or did my turbo just go bad?

Sounds like you have a major vacuum leak somewhere. How high is it revving? Is it going up a 1000 or so rpm or is it revving to redline? Any codes?

Any codes at all? If your throttle cable isn't hanging then there isn't much else that can make the car rev to redline. Maybe a bad TPS, but it should be throwing a code if it is.

I'd still check all of your vac lines. That's the most likely culprit for no boost. If your turbo was dead you'd know it. Either it'd be making a helacious noise or you'd be getting lots of smoke out the exhaust.
