I replaced the turbo on my 1985 Daytona Turbo Z and then took it out on the road but the turbo does not want to kick in for more power. Is this the fault of the EGR valve not actuating the wastegate or something else?

Need more info...
Why did you originally replace the turbo?

Lack of boost will be caused by the wastegate being stuck open or a leak between the charge piping from the turbo to engine.

FYI...
EGR(exhaust gas recirculation) is an emission control device designed to lower NOx and has nothing to do with the turbo or boost.

normally a line directly to the turbo gives you 6 PSI.

Did you get the little clip on the WG can arm? This little clip fails a lot when you try to re use them, then the arm falls off quikly. I also get the WG flap stuck open or shut sometimes. Being an 85 turbo you can look at it and move the flap around manually to check how it works
