if you are looking at the front bumper and metal pieces that hook to the fenders, there are bolts on the very front of the fenders, that go through and hook to the front portions. You will need to remove the plastic in the fender wells, and then you have access to them. Once you have both left and right sides off, the there are a few bolts that hook the front to the radiator support. Unbolt those, and it should come off with some finessing, or that is how the other L-bodies are.
I've been trolling vwvortex for ideas on how to KINDA do that, I want to shave the engine bay a bit but nothing too extreme. There's a lot of people with really nicely cleaned up engine bays on that site.
