Just bought a 89 dodge spirit 2.5 non turbo automatic. It is not the original motor. They have put in a 93 acclaim motor in the spirit. Problems that they had when they swap the motor after running it for about 2000 miles it started over heating and they let it sit for couple of years, but they would start the car up ofend.

Well i solve the over heating. I took out the thermostat and will put one in later after i solve the tranny issue.

When car starts up tranny shifts find but after 20-25 minutes into the driving the transmission seems it don't wanna grab the gears feels likes it is in neuture.

Should i drain and put in new fluid.

Appreciate any info. Thanks

Ok i check my fluid when engine running and in park and waited for egine warms up and it seem i don't have no reading on my dip stick except foam just touching dip stick.

I am gonna drain my transmission fluid myself tommorrow. Any advice of what kind of automatic transmission fluid i need to buy from walmart and how much quarts i need. THANKS.
