Hello my grandpa has an 06 pt cruiser n/a auto and it's been over heating. It's totally baffling everyone who looks at it. So I figured this is a job for the td forum. He had a water pump put in . He had the coolant system flushed and a thermostat put in and it still over heats! Now it only over heats on hot days or in traffic. While driving the car will stay cool. I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated !!!!!

My short list would be:

1) radiator plugged. Flushing the system doesn't mean it unplugged the radiator.
2) radiator fan not working. If it only get hot on hot days, or in traffic, sounds like there isn't enough air getting through the radiator. Does the fan cycle on with A/C? That would tell you if it works at all.

Yea the fan cycles on and off. I wonder now if the rad is plugged up. Maybe I'll just go ahead and pull the rad and check it out. If a thing it'll rule out that possibility. Thanks for the help!
