I have 2 complete heads, and I am trying to identify the cams. Where is
the *$& % the part number. I have rotated them and found numbers
stamped, but none match any numbers I got from Thedodgegarage.
Do I need to remove the cam from the head to see the P/N?

How do you identify a cam if you do not know what it came out of????
Do you have to measure the lift to figure out what cam it is.
That makes no sense.

Simple. Mic the cam. Take it to a good machine shop and let them measure it ... or measure it yourself using yankee ingenuity (and a cylinder head).

Thanks for the help, I am a machinist so this is not a problem. I just can't believe
Chrysler did not put a part number for identification purposes.

All the factory SOHC 8V cams had approx. .430 lift at the valve. Give or take a few thousands of an inch. You are going to be hard pressed to find what is a turbo, and what is a TBI, what is a 2.2 TBI, and what is a 2.5 TBI without either degreeing the cam or having the cam put on a Cam-Pro or Cam Dr. Some have claimed that the turbo cams have a T stamped in the end, but I can't confirm or deny this. I do know that not all turbo cams had these marks. Sort of like the turbo valves.
Almost all factory cams had very close to the same installed intake centerline, the only real significant difference is the duration and overlap. Mopar had a couple different vendors supplying cams to them. The numbers you see are meaningless.
Most aftermarket cams will have markings scribed on the camshaft end.
The slider cams are another story. #618 appears to be the turbo camshaft.
