if its a stick then you have a true t2 motor in it, the 84 motor is not, you could use it but you would be downgrading, internally wise, just use the short block and bolt everything on from the 87 Z, head, manifolds, etc.
everything will transfer over from the daytona to the 84 short block just fine but you will need to get the 10mm head bolts for the 84' instead of the later years 11mm headbolts
also if your using the 87 head, that is a cross drilled head and you should get a gasket for the 87+. the crank in the 84 uses a 6 bolt flywheel and the 87+ have a 8 bolt so make sure you have an older flywheel, other than that your good to go.
