You won't need it if you get the Crane ignition. The Hi-6di2 has an optional boost porportional-retard option, which works great.

I've installed many of the HI-6TR units on big block domestic iron.
The rev limit and timing retard are very useful with 473cu.in. monster motors.

They used be gold, instead of black cases.

The TR knob allows you to adjust up to 20 degrees of timing.

I usually set base timing to be exactly in the middle of the range. This gives a 10 degree swing either direction.

I've taken the base timing up to 22 degrees advance on a flat highway cruise. You should see a monster big block getting 25mpg!

That's how Chrysler Lean Burn computers worked in the 70s. They would increase timing during a light-throttle cruise to achieve better economy.

, humm, i think thats a bit to temping for me,,
how would you know if the motor is knocking say if you music on,

it seems you could blow it fairly easily.
