Just moved to Redmond, Washington and on the 3rd day, I met a local road revenuer...I mean law officer. Happened to be going past the 'cop shop' and saw a green unmarked Crown Vic pulling out 2 cars behind me. No biggie, not doing anything but going to the office. Go to pull into the left turn lane for the traffic light when a Corolla prematurely jumps into the 'suicide' lane to turn into the QFC parking lot. I swerve out and back to avoid a BAD situation in the lane, light goes green, and we turn (cop does nothing) down 90th heading west. As I top the bridge and start heading toward the stopped traffic, the lights come on in the Vicky. I pull over, but the woman behind me in the Alero(obviously the wife of a foriegn 'h1b' worker at Microsoft)screeches to a stop and panics. I can do nothing but laugh because it is the classic"Deer in Headlights" situation behind me. Finally, the reve..ah, officer tells her to move forward about 4 times and she confusingly complies. When the unit parks behind me, the laugh abruptly halts. Officer Diesel **** informs me that I did an illegal lane change and was following too close; and I quote "around here that's aggressive driving." The only emotion on my face was that Renee Zellweiger-kind of 'huh?' look. So she asks for my license while I suggest we move from the road (now causing a flow problem at the light)...she meanders back to the cruiser, runs everything (clean), and then comes out and suggests to me we move out of the way. We go to a parking lot where Officer **** continues with her display of professionalism by barking at me,"Well what do you have to say for yourself?" I didn't say much of anything(to avoid incrimination for doing nothing). Her response was a $202 ticket and you'll get something in the mail down at your house. When I told her I was a brandy-new Redmond resident she got angry once again spouting at me," You didn't say anything about that!' My retort was "You didn't ask." My advise is to avoid Redmond Washington- bunch of my co-workers and friends tell me that is how they are up here and they've been pulled over for BS. I refuse to spend a nickel in the local economy and forbid my wife to do the same(my house falls in unincorporated King County, thank God). Next is a letter to the cheif and $300 on a lawyer. It ain't the wind that blows in Redmond!
