Just moved to Redmond, Washington and on the 3rd day, I met a local road revenuer...I mean law officer. Happened to be going past the 'cop shop' and saw a green unmarked Crown Vic pulling out 2 cars behind me. No biggie, not doing anything but going to the office. Go to pull into the left turn lane for the traffic light when a Corolla prematurely jumps into the 'suicide' lane to turn into the QFC parking lot. I swerve out and back to avoid a BAD situation in the lane, light goes green, and we turn (cop does nothing) down 90th heading west. As I top the bridge and start heading toward the stopped traffic, the lights come on in the Vicky. I pull over, but the woman behind me in the Alero(obviously the wife of a foriegn 'h1b' worker at Microsoft)screeches to a stop and panics. I can do nothing but laugh because it is the classic"Deer in Headlights" situation behind me. Finally, the reve..ah, officer tells her to move forward about 4 times and she confusingly complies. When the unit parks behind me, the laugh abruptly halts. Officer Diesel Dyke informs me that I did an illegal lane change and was following too close; and I quote "around here that's aggressive driving." The only emotion on my face was that Renee Zellweiger-kind of 'huh?' look. So she asks for my license while I suggest we move from the road (now causing a flow problem at the light)...she meanders back to the cruiser, runs everything (clean), and then comes out and suggests to me we move out of the way. We go to a parking lot where Officer Dyke continues with her display of professionalism by barking at me,"Well what do you have to say for yourself?" I didn't say much of anything(to avoid incrimination for doing nothing). Her response was a $202 ticket and you'll get something in the mail down at your house. When I told her I was a brandy-new Redmond resident she got angry once again spouting at me," You didn't say anything about that!' My retort was "You didn't ask." My advise is to avoid Redmond Washington- bunch of my co-workers and friends tell me that is how they are up here and they've been pulled over for BS. I refuse to spend a nickel in the local economy and forbid my wife to do the same(my house falls in unincorporated King County, thank God). Next is a letter to the cheif and $300 on a lawyer. It ain't the wind that blows in Redmond!

Haha twitch im 16 and that happens all time around here for me. 1. i dont look that old. 2.Im driving what looks to be quite the quick car and the BOV doesnt help much :thumb: . They will start following me the moment i leave school until about 15 minutes later when i turn into my neighborhood.

It makes for some frustrating driving.

So... its ok for the cops to follow to close? I know here in NB they'd have to be at least a car length away to read your license plate sticker...which they have done before no doubt. Foruntely I can't say I've heard of anything like this here yet.. but it will happen no doubt. The cops are too busy looking for speeders and illegal cars here... they even doubled the ticket prices for no insurance/registration/inspection. $1640 now for getting cought without those 3... I have no doubt that was a deal made with the insurance campanies.

Oh and..

"Well what do you have to say for yourself?"

Not much.. but I'll see you in court. :p

Atleast when I lived in and around Seattle, the cops MIGHT stop you if something minor was going on or suspected. You see, there they have crack dealers, crankers/meth labs, areas with a raised level of sexual offenders...you know, REAL police work to do. Out here they get an occassional car theft, domestic dispute, pot possession, MIP, DWI,and the funniest of all-plannning for an attack on the Microsoft Campus(open campus, the terrorist know where Bill G and Steve B. are, and a car bomb could easily be driven into the lobby and detonated). So, the police here are bored and used to collect revenue from folks that appear to be from a less 'affluent' area. Personal, bitter opinions being expressed only of course!

I was pulled over once because cops were looking for two younger white guys in a old red car, who oddly enough were street racing outside of Green bay and hour earlier. When they told me this I got scared, because no more than an hour earlier had I been racing a couple of friends near dykesville. So after half an hour of bullcrap rants about the evils of street racing, they realized "hey this poor kid is driving an Omni, the exhaust is rusting off *cough*3"allthewaybackcherrybombnocat*cough*, the bumper just hanging by a thread, and the headliner dropping. he doesnt need any more problems from us. But wait, I'm gonna be an ahole" just when I thought I had convinced them that my car was crap,a $110 fine for following to close. So there you have it racial, ageist, makist profiling, for the sake of being mean.

Since WA state has been spending more than they can collect and there are limits on raising taxes the police departments have become the modern day "sheriff of Nottingham". Here in beautiful Spokane they recently put a number of new officers on traffic safety patrols. The main goal was for them to generate revenue to justify their job. I have heard 17 tickets a nighht as the magic number but I find that hard to believe. What I do know is that when I drive home late at night I have been stopped for BS because they are fishing for DWI, or no insurance, etc. Unfortunately after a long days work I have no patience and have been guilty of sharing my disdain for what they do.

P.S. I like that 'Land of serial killers...'you know that guy Yates? The city serial killer task force had put out the word to forward any citation issued to a corvette in the known prostitute areas. Well an officer issued a citation to the driver of a corvette (Yates), only he wrote camaro on the citation, the officer deligently forwarded it to the task force which then disregarded it because it said camaro not corvette. Only five or six more women were killed after that occoured.

Yeah, I guess running the tag number and verifying the car was MIS-identified as a Camaro would have taken 2 minutes max on the NCIC database. But, hey, those 5 or 6 more were just prostitutes...and the donuts were fresh out the machine at Krispy Kreme-can't let whores get in the way of sustenance. Gotta keep the strength up so we can keep writing citations! :bang head

that made absolutely no sense to me but i lmao at it. :thumb:

wanna think bs. i got pulled over for my bov cause he said it disturbing th peace cause everytime i went by the local high school the teachers would complain cause they could hear it pppppsshhhhhhhttt everytime i shifted gears wtf....... and to beat it all he tried to say my shelby sticker above the windshield was illegal and wrote me a ticket. i was like no sir that was stock from the factory and the law in virginia says if its factory there is nothing they can do. so i had to get legal proof from several sources even my factory manuals and several papers from chrysler saying that the sticker was factory to get out of the ticket. NO ONE I MEAN NO ONE with a nice car should live in virginia. this place is the biggest bunch of bs.

Sounds like your typical Officer Jockface. I have been pulled over numerous times for BS and ticketed a few times for BS....

Wow...

Look

*ANOTHER* I hate Cops thread on Turbododge.com!

Could someone post something Dodge or automotive related and not this Cop bashing crap?

Who cares if you were pulled over for a (fill in your complaint/citation here)?
Last I checked not everyone lives at the foot of the cross, nor is anyone perfect with the exception of God himself, so quite blubbering like 2 year olds that just had their blankie taken and grow up.

p.s. Did anyone here know that for an average citation of $200 that the County/City see a Whopping $20 in revenue? The rest go to court costs, attorney fees, etc.

I could not agree more, however, it's just getting old on this board to see a thread of this type just about every week or so.

Hell! I am allll for it!! I could tell you stories about Podunk Cop misconduct that would turn your hair white! DEAR MODERATORS: Lets have a "My Cop horror story" section...say for a month?? And I will add this, in the postings, you should not be whining when you get written up for doing burn outs, or losing control of your ride and taking out a row of mailboxes, running down a Grandmother on a sidewalk,or for crashing into a swimming pool. No...I am talking about Cops being sent out, with the single purpose, of generating income for their Municipalities or Counties(Illegal quota systems)...or, for pulling people over simply for the reason to use the stop, as a "real world training scenario" for a newbie Cop! (Been there, done that!)

I can safely say, that as an American living abroad (21+years) that it is with no small amount of anxiety do I drive in the States, thinking that at any moment, the Blue lights will come on, and that an alleged improper lane change, could catapult into a whole catalog a charges, ranging from "Road map improperly folded" to (one of my favorite "Improper bumper height"! And, that very possibly, one of these very frustrated, ex "Mall cops/Barney Fife types" could misinterpret you looking at your watch, to going for a weapon....

They need to deal with REAL crime and prevention, instead of clogging the court systems with "macht's nichts" BS trumped up charges that in NO way benefit society...and my Mom asks me why I turned down a lucrative job Flying for the Broward Co. Sheriffs dept?? Simple...dont want to be a Cop!

Ok, so having a "My Cop horror story" would in fact benefit this board how?

If something as silly as the above passes, I want to lobby for the following forums:

-Seperation between Church and state

-The government

-Health care and HMO's

-Abortion

-The Military and the Mid East Conflict

-Michael Moore and the media

-Oil corporations and the cost of fuel

-PETA

-Taxes

-Area 51

-The Star Wars Project

-The KKK

-Social Security

Wow, that is a pretty good non-inclusive list of todays (and some older) events that are surely on the minds of everyone. Why not make a blubbering or rant forum so we can seeemingly get all those important issues out in the open? I mean why not! Who come to Turbododge.com anymore for information on how to repair Turbo cars and modify their vehicles so we can all piss and moan about world events or whatever our little hearts desire?

There is enough BS in the world today and some of us come here to learn, crack a joke or two, and most importanly HAVE SOME FUN from all the garbage that is now pervading our society.

I got pulled over last thursday for doing 80 on the freeway. The cop was surprisingly polite and didn't give any attitude. What sucked is that he had a tint meter on his bike and my tint is a 22% but 28% is the legal limit. Then he went ahead and got me for not having a front plate. What a load of poop... What really bites my ass is that my nice Escort 8500 radar detector was chilling unplugged under my seat when he got me at 80. GRRR..... oh well, it was my fault for being in a rush.
