I was wondering if someone could tell me what all is involved in swapping out a SBEC to an SMEC on a 90 2.5l TI?. I was told it is only a matter of cutting off the 60 way connector and splicing in the SMEC connectors and rewiring the injectors for batch firing. Is this correct? Does anyone have any information that they could point me to for such a conversion? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Actually, the 60-way SBEC connector should physically plug right in the SMEC, but DO NOT DO THIS until you swap the appropriate wries around. Damage to the SMEC will result otherwise. Many of the pin positions are not common and a few of them need to be taken out and spliced into the 14-way SMEC power connector. Compare:
That is what I thought but wanted to confirm. I might be able to get you the information about the SBEC pin out, if you don't already have it. My question is what injectors get grouped on driver #1, and #2 since I will be going from sequencial firing to batch firing? Thanks.
I can get you some pinouts if needed.
Russ, this goes for you as well, I have access to all chryco fsm's, if you need anything for your site I will be happy to provide it.
Send pm if interested.
