Shadow CSX and CODE8 Daytona

I posted this elsewhere in TurboDodge and realized this is where I should have been. Here goes again: I have an 87 Daytona Shelby Z that has a secondary body tag on the rad support that has "CODE 8" on it. Anyone seen such an animal or have an idea what it means. Car is a T1 automatic red, grey leather and T-Tops. I do have a door jam decal which states being altered by Cars and Concepts but I have seen the decal before but have yet to see another CODE 8 car. Also, I found a Shelby Shadow CSX that has a build date of 4-87 and a Shelby decal dated 11-87. Is this car a 87 or an 88. I talked to the owner a couple months ago and it is for sale but just curious what year it would be considered before I go back and get a price from him. Thanks for any info, Dave.

There wasn't a 1991 Dodge Daytona R/T. Only Daytona R/Ts where made in '92-93.

Does the Daytona Shelby Z have a one piece intake or a two piece intake? If its a two piece then it's an '87 model. In '88+ they got a one piece manifold.
The Shelby Z is an 87, we bought it new in May of 88. I say new because it came from a dealer in our area that is notorious for buying program cars and this was one that he bought from Chrysler 3 weeks before we got it from him with 13,000 miles on it. We are the first public owner of the car. We have always been curious what the CODE 8 tag meant. I had it back at the dealer years ago and asked them and got some dumb reply about it probably being dropped off a building or something. Anyway, I was interested in knowing what year the CSX would be but am guessing it to be an 87 as the #667 car is an 87 and this is car #665. It just seemed odd that the Shelby decal is dated 11-87 that would normally be very late for an 87. Thanks for the reply. Dave,

What color is the CSX?

87 CSX - Black - 750 made
88 CSX-T - White - 1000 made
89 CSX-VNT - Red - 500 made
Its definately an 87. Its black. I plan on checking it out this weekend so wish me luck that the owner is reasonable.
Good luck, the 87 P-bodies are my favorite:nodding: They can be a PITA wn you need an 87 only part though lol
One time I found a 92 5 Speed shadow with a second body tag that said "SPECIAL HANDLING UNIT" Looked like the same stuff to me just from a turbo car.
You see the 'special handling unit' tag on that RT G body last night?
