I'm still waiting for a reply from the Shelby Registry, but thought I'd post here as well while I wait for a reply.

A friend has what appears to be a 1987 Charger GLHS he recieved in a package deal with a couple other Shelby Chargers.

No dash plaque, but here's the VIN.

Can anyone verify it's a real GLHS and confirm what # it is ?

VIN 1B3BZ64E7HD556903

Thanks !!

Have your friend look at the VIN tag on the radiator support.

Have your friend look at the VIN Tag on the drivers side radiator support.
On the 3rd line from top in the right corner you'll see GLHS01 stamped on the tag.
That's the production code for the Shelby Charger GLHS.

If you give me a few hours, I can go through all the 1000 invoice printout and see if I can find it. My list is about 99% complete.
Your help is greatly appreciated, but don't go out of your way....and there's certainly NO RUSH !!

He's considering selling it as he has too may other projects butI told him to get confirmation of a true GLHS beforehand....he's not computer savy so i told him I'd lend a hand.

The registration sticker in the windshield and dealer sticker on rear bumper said is was from MASS.

Knowing that it came from a MA. dealer narrows down the search a lot.
The windshield decal is the shorter style that were put on the first 100 or so cars (not sure of the exact figure).
So that would make it a low number car.

Okay I've been through my list twice, and not finding your VIN #. I think the nearest VIN car listed to 556903 was 3 or 4 #'s off. I agree, judging by the low VIN #, it probably was an early car. I am not finding it on my lists, but MY invoice list for the 87 GLHS cars is for some reason not quite complete. What I am missing is the very low #'ed cars. #0003- 0010 and the very late cars. The very early cars may have been for VIP's or sold directly from the Whittier plant. They offered the early SDAC members the opportunity to purchase a car directly from the Whittier plant. At least they did this for sure on the 86 GLHS'. I have a copy of the letter sent out to all the early SDAC members. Membership had it's privileges! The very late cars may have went to dealerships that were looking for more inventory. Those missing #'s from my list are car #'s 0964-0999. Have a notation on my list that #0990 was totaled (maybe carrier accident or crash test mule).
There was someone else I believe in Montana or Wyoming that had a more complete list than me. He helped someone else out a year or two ago. I'll keep seachin for his username. Maybe someone else will chime in too.
Good luck, and I'll report back if I find anything else out.

Okay I have a link to a thread you might find interesting.
This car above also was sold to MA dealership and the radiator core tag also did NOT have GLHS on core support tag! Ended up being #110.

Guy with username wyghostown helped someone about a year ago. I would try to contact him and see if he could help you too. I just rechecked my list and I'm missing the top invoice on each piece of paper I have! So I'm missing info also on invoice 02-111, 02-167, 02-223, 02-280, 02-334, 02-390, 02-446, 02-502, 02-558, 02-614, 02-671, 02-727, 02-783, 02-859, 02-896, & 02-1040. That is another 16 cars I don't have info on! I think wyghostown has the same list as I do, but IIRC, his list isn't missing these top of page invoices.

Sort of looking like the early cars didn't have this GLHS reference on the core support tag. Check out that other thread I sent a link to. That one has a core support tag similar to OP tag. Only about 17 digits off too. Once again both appear to be early built cars.

I've sent wyghostown a pm asking for help too....your help and time spent on this already is much appreciated !!!!

Hey I just thought about something. Your invoice # makes this just the second 87 GLHS to be built/invoiced! The invoice started with 02-100. That one was VIN 556902. Typically they didn't follow VIN # and invoice #. I have no idea how I missed your VIN # on my list. 556902 also was shipped to Fitgerald Dodge in Laconia NH. That car was # 002.
Lucky 13! At least it's not #666:giggle:

I'm wondering if the pre-production mule cars (test cars) didn't have the GLHS01 metal stamping and once they were done with them they were sold to the public.
I owned #0956 and that car had GLHS01 stamped on the rad. support tag.
Every 87 GLHS car I've seen from the SDAC conventions from 1995 through 2003 had that same stamping.
I'm curious to know if the 86 GLHS had that as well.
I think you have this narrowed down to the car being a test/pre-production car, or car #0003-10
Car #001 and 2 have been documented in the registry as we know already.
NOTE:
I just looked at the picture of the 87 GLHS test mule and it has no sunroof.
So it's not that car at least.
Update:
I just read Todd's latest post and it's confirmed as #002.
#002 is listed in the Shelby Registry as last registered to Bill Haselton (2009-06-20)

I got some more info on this car in a PM from Omniac. Wyghostown provided Omniac some info.
VIN 556903 was invoiced to Fitzgerald Dodge in Laconia, NH being shipped 10/15/1986 the invoice number was 02-101 and the CS# 013. That CS number would be what was on the dash plate (his is missing). This would have been the next one built after car # 002.based on the invoice #. GLHS #002 invoice is 02-100. Omniac's is invoice 02-101. Bill's Hazelton's GLHS was car #002 it's VIN was 556902. The car VIN #'s normally did not sequence with invoice # or car #, but in this case the VIN #'s were in sequence with the invoice #. However the CS #'s did not sequence, Bill's being #CS002 and Omniac's being # CS013.
Hope that all makes sense.
BTW- I do know Bill still has his restored 87 GLHS. I have some engine bay pics of it. It does not appear to have the GLHS on core support either.

Thanks Todd!
As with the '86 GLHS windshield decals (with CS cut off of the ends) being used for the first 100 or so '87's, maybe the earliest cars didn't have "GLHS01 stamped into the plate?
Ah the plot thickens!
