Spirit R/T trunklid spoiler: Howzit mount??

639 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  CBMDennis
Got a Spirit R/T trunklid spoiler to add to my Spirit ES. Problem is, the threaded mount studs on the underside of the spoiler are long enough to go through only one thickness of sheetmetal, and there aren't any holes or cutouts in the lower sheetmetal of the trunk lid. Er…huh? I used to own a '91 R/T, but don't remember if there were holes or cutouts. Anyone got suggestions, or maybe pics of the applicable area of an R/T trunk lid?

Thanks…

If it's anything like mine, you have to drill some larger holes through rthe webbing inside the trunk. After the holes are drilled on the outside for the spoiler, drill others larger inside in the corrosponding areas so you can get a bolt/washer and socket in there. That's what I had to do with mine. I'm pretty sure that's what you're asking heh, sorry if it's not.

No it's not. I'll ask my bud.. He has a Spirit R/T trunklid spoiler
When we put the R/T spoiler on my 91 ES we drilled 2 holes one on each end. On the 91 spirit's trunk lid there are 2 indentations in the metal on the inside of the trunk lid which is were the factory drilled the holes on the corners for the R/Ts. We pulled the rest of the studs out of the spoiler and 3M double sided taped it with 2 bolts holding it on the trunk lid on each end. On my friends 90 spirit it did not have the indentations in the inside of the trunk lid.
Will they work hot.
