I drive a 1984 Shelby Charger.

Sometimes, when I'm in neutral or sitting with the clutch in, it almost feels like something is banging against the bottom of the car. a loud knocking can be felt and heard. I've checked the exhaust, it seems to be fixed pretty solid. Not sure what it is. Any ideas? It's coming from near the center of the car, maybe a little closer to the passenger seat.

did you have the clutch replaced? also these cars dont have throw out bearing, they are a floating shaft, and if your noise is louder with the clutch in and see if its binding the shifter :D

years back mine made a chuck chuck chuck sound at idle - it was the differiential that was soon to lock up and break

mechanic said at the time doing burnouts wears out the diff quick

but it could well be the bearing for the clutch - does the noise change or go away with diff preasure on the clutch peddel ?
