I put a protoform shift light in my shadow a month ago, and hooked it up the the negative side of the coil like the directions said. it works, but it comes on anywhere between 4900-5500 just depending on how you are drivng the car. so more or less, its usless. is there a difrent spot i can pull a "clean" tach signal? my chiltons shows one in the pinouts for the ecu but i pulled my plug and I didnt have a wire where it showed one should be. do I have to add the pin?

thanks.

also... is anyone else running the protoform light?

I've got an Autometer tach in my Duster. I hooked the tach signal wire to the negative side of the coil, and everything works fine for me. And if you've got a factory tach, then the pin has to be there, otherwise your factory tach won't work. Perhaps you looked at the connector upside down? I've done that before myself. Myabe you could take a feed from the tach wire at the instrument cluster connector?
