Maybe in the middle of the gauge with the 195 thermostat it should have in it. With the 180, it should be no higher then the 1/4 mark on the gauge.

I'd guess the 3/4 mark is about 210-220 degrees, and maxed out around 250.

Well I'm in the middle with a 180 deg thermostat. It shot up to 3/4 after stopping for gas, temp didn't come back down until I got back on the freeway. Cam broke a few weeks ago. I think its obvious whats going on now.

The factory gauges are useless other than if it moves full hot and you are overheating.
My factory gauge only goes to the 1/4 mark in winter and the 3/4 mark in summer and has done this for 22 years although temp is the same as measured at the coolant temp sensor.

If you really want to know what coolant temp is backprobe the CTS connector and read the voltage or connect a scanner.
