Would you consider changing the turbo without pulling the head a benefit?
You should read what he wrote on the other site...Sure would, along with better flow, more hp, more efficiency. Only drawback I see is that he no longer loves us.![]()
One thing I do have to say though, is that there is lots less vendor drama around here. You should read what he wrote on the other site...
he could eating , screwing, playing with Madonna's kitty Kat, as long as I get the right parts, I could care less!never heard the guy eating in the calls that i have made but they were very helpful and the parts showed up crazy fast but i dont live to far away either
You're welcome for finding you a welderyou have to port your turbine to use it and a little match porting. Then mine had a pile of metal shavings in it. It is for people that are doing a ton of mods, not just a few. I am modding my water lines to the heater to make the header fit. It isn't that great in an L body, I think they should mave moved it over like they did, but they could have moved it over a whole 2" less than they did and made life easier. My big valve head and my TU header and finished (thank god) intake
Are you talking about the new cast piece?you have to port your turbine to use it and a little match porting. Then mine had a pile of metal shavings in it. It isn't that great in an L body, I think they should mave moved it over like they did, but they could have moved it over a whole 2" less than they did and made life easier. My big valve head and my TU header and finished (thank god) intake are going to the flow bench. Hoping the TU header flows what the head flows, I think it will.
Everyone has there opinions. I like TUs exhaust and the fact they sell cast exhaust parts. You must be ready to wait. If you are doing a build that'll take a long time to complete order parts from TU early. They show up someday but take time. But exhaust is always needed and they spent some money on our exhaust.
Person side? Well I think Chris is a hot head and has that real short fuse. I have talked with him on forums and on the phone and found him not friendly. But you don't have to be friendly to sell something good. Cindy on the other hand is very friendly with a nitrous personality, I've always bought a lot from FWD. If they have it I get it fast, if they don't I hear about it and expect it. FM? I don't really think they have much intrest in TDs unless it is huge money. Then I'm not realy sure the point of there heads or the FAST systems. Sure FAST systems rule, but less than 1% need it. Then the CNC $2,300 heads? I can not force a lower half of a 2 piece to keep up with my garage ported head. Then the bottom ends they do are really cool and less than 1% can use them too. I do love there GT turbo line and the guy that is there is always eating when you call them lol.
I have TUs cast header. The header has zero inside turn on it and the largest cut is on the inside turn. So you cut a radius in the turbine and make the inside turn with the turbine. The other 3 sides are cut an 1/8" deep into the turbine 2", which raises your AR ratio a tiny bit. Without porting the turbine right the air will shoot across the edge and slam into the side of the turbine. Not a bolt on and use piece and not for some one that isn't doing a lot of other mods and porting. Are you talking about the new cast piece?
I have seen pictures on the other site and its a lot more then "a little" gasket matching. A full 1/4" to be removed from 3 sides of the flange is just sloppy. Its not going to help your turbine flow after all that porting either.
We are talking about massive amounts of porting unless you do a crappy job and just round off the edges instead of tapering the gasket matching into the turbine like you should.
I dont agree that fancy exhaust manifolds are for people with lots of mods. I would want to upgrade my manifold regardless of my HP goals. But thats how I roll.
