We have an 88 Daytona Shelby Z turbo II intercooled with a 2.2. The turbo seals blew, lost all oil and then the motor blew. And I mean BLEW.only thing left that is good is the top half(head, manifolds, etc.) My question is: we have(had) a stock 2.2 TII. I have found an engine shop with a 2.2 TIV long block on sale, all turbo rated parts. What is the difference, if any, between the two blocks TII vs TIV.

Only thing I could think of is the TIV is a common block and the TII is not. That shouldn't matter when installing it, but someone else might know for sure.

I have had 4 VNTS and they all did as well. I even have the cut-away drawing from Chrysler somewhere of the VNT engine and it shows the BS. They only commonblock turbo engine that did not have BS is the 89 TII,all the rest did.
