My husband is working on the vacuum system on his 1988 Chrysler New Yorker 2.2 T1 turbo car. He snapped this picture and needs help identifying it. It's connected to the charcoal canister solenoid.

OK, I'll bite...

Why does the voice alert need a vacuum switch?

Crude way of knowing whether the engine is running or not for low oil pressure, engine overheating, and low system voltage warning alert. This was per FSM.
It is discussed in the instrument panel section in the 85 manual. Not sure if it is in the later FSM's or not. It is also used to aid techs on diagnosing/testing voice alert issues.
